3 tips for a successful Melbourne Cup Day!

Melbourne Cup brings a sense of excitement to your Club, a chance for your guests to get dressed up and enjoy a flutter! How can you make the day memorable and ensure your patrons come back year after year?

1. CREATE A THEME

Choose a theme and carry the style throughout all your advertising and promotional collateral including even the decorative accents on the big day – it creates a real sense of occasion, is professional and will create a special atmosphere for your guests to get into the spirit of the day!

Have your staff dress up in the theme, and create a fun photo opportunity space (complete with a prop frame that has your branding on it.) for people to take snaps and share online!


2. ENSURE YOUR EQUIPMENT WORKS

It sounds simple, but if people can’t see the race due to lack of TVs or hear it due to poor sound this is what they’ll remember, not all the hard work you’ve put into the day. Test the equipment and test it again! Make sure the person in charge of AV for the day knows what they are doing and troubleshoot any possible issues before they arise. If all goes smoothly, people will be in party mood and kick up their heels!


3. USE THE EXPERTISE OF THOSE AROUND YOU TO CREATE A WOW FACTOR

Use the skills of those around you. Work with a local florist, photographer, band etc to bring all the elements of the day together and provide opportunities for cross promotion. These suppliers may even be willing to offer prizes for their services being featured on the day! This will only add to your guests’ experience which will help to create buzz for events you will host in the future.
