2021 has begun and there is no better time to sit down with a cuppa and think about your goals for this NEW year! It’s nearing the end of January and we are here to tell you that if you haven't started a vision board yet it's not too late, now is the time to get it done!

Vision boards have blown up over the last few years and have become a go-to method to set our goals and visualize our future! We have seen celebrities like Oprah, Katy Perry and Beyonce swear by them, but do they actually work? Or are they just something people do for fun at the beginning of every year? Before we get down to the nitty gritty, let’s define what a vision board is and how they work. 

So, what is a vision board you may ask?

A vision board is a collection of images, quotes and symbols that have meaning to you and represent the things you want to achieve in your business or personal life. They can be aesthetic and beautiful, however their sole purpose is to help you visualize your goals or ideal future. Visualization is a powerful tool… but that is for another blog!

Vision boards work by keeping your goals top of mind when you see your desired life displayed on your vision board EVERY day. You will find yourself thinking about your goals on a regular basis, which makes you more likely to achieve them!

Now that we know what it is let’s make our own!

Make a vision board in 5 steps:

1. Define + set your goals

Sit down and take a few minutes to think about what goals you want to reach and ask yourself some questions about what you want to achieve and what your ideal business or life would look like? 

2. Pick pictures and quotes

Go out and search for pictures or quotes that are a visual representation of the goals you wish to achieve! These can come from a magazine, newspaper, a print from the web or you can keep your images digital and get them from Instagram, Pinterest etc.

3. Create your board

Once you have your images and quotes, you will need to decide if you want to create a physical or digital vision board. If you choose a physical board, now is the time to get out the trusty glue stick and scissors.  Some physical bases to start with are cork board, canvas, cardboard, a picture frame or your fridge. If digital is your cup of tea, then get stuck into arranging your images on your chosen program, which can include Canva, Pinterest, collage apps, Weheartit and even Instagram. 

4. Display it

Put it on display! Place your board somewhere you will see it every day like your desk, work office, bedroom, kitchen or even set it as a wallpaper on your phone, laptop or tablet if you have created a digital version! Maybe even create both a physical and a digital copy of your vision board!

5. Have fun with it!

Your vision board is for you, so make sure you have fun and get creative! 

Make sure you can see your vision board every day to stay on track and be inspired!

Business Goals:

• What is your dream job title?
• What is your ideal client?
• What does your ideal work day look like?
• What are your favourite projects to work on?
• What would you like to improve on or challenge yourself to do at work?
• What kind of products/services do you want to offer?
• Where will your office be and what will it look like? 

Personal Goals:

• What does my ideal life look like?
• What does success look like for me?
• Where do I want to be in the next year, 5 years or 10 years?
• What do I want to learn?
• How does achieving this success make me feel?

It’s as easy as that! Now that you have the tools and vision board steps, get out there and start setting your goals for 2021!
