6 Steps to a healthy work-life balance

How to maintain a healthy work-life balance

Do you work to live? or live to work?

It’s all about balance and we are here to remind you to balance your work life with your personal life. That means you need to take your lunch breaks and go on at least one yearly holiday. Yes, actually take time off work!

Here are our top tips to get that work-life balance we all desire.

6 work-life balance tips:

1. Unplug (leave work at work)

In a world where we are so accessible through phones and the internet, we need to make sure we leave work at work. Turn your phone on silent and just enjoy your time away from your workplace. Work is important, however looking after your mental and physical well being should be your top priority. If we don’t look after ourselves, how can we perform well at work? Studies have shown that a rested mind and body is more effective in the workplace. So make sure you leave work… at work!

2. Take your damn lunch breaks!

We are all guilty of this at some stage of our career… That feeling of ‘I don’t have time to eat’ or ‘I’ll eat in a sec’, which leaves you starving until dinner time. Our advice. Take your lunch breaks while you can, because you won’t get those back!

3. Exercise and meditate

exercise is great for boosting your endorphins in your brain, which make you feel positive and energised for your day!

Meditation is also a great way of bringing your mind back to center and even winding down from a long day or week at work. The combination of exercise and meditation take care of your mind, body and soul, which is important when you lead a busy or high stress lifestyle.

4. Schedule in holidays/time off work

This step is important… We are all busy and want to be able to get the work done but we do need to take some time out of our busy work schedule and relax + reset! A holiday is the perfect remedy, which will leave you feeling refreshed and motivated to come back to work.

This can even allow the quality of work you produce to improve, as you aren't as drained and tired of the day to day processes.

5. Nurture your relationships (family & friends)

Having a supportive network of family and friends is important, as we need people outside of work that bring us happiness. The better these relationships are the better you will feel about yourself and the life you currently lead.

How have you incorporated a healthy work-life balance in your lifestyle?
