5 Personal Development Strategies

5 Personal Development Strategies

Personal development is one of the most important advancements you can make not only for yourself, but for your business! If 2020 has taught us anything, it is that we need to work on ourselves and practice self care and personal development. When we’re on fire, our business fires too!

Only you can improve your business or company by improving yourself. So ask yourself, how am I investing in my personal growth currently?

Making an investment of time, money, educational pursuits, health/wellness or making a change in your day-to-day operations can show great long term improvements that will make you feel good and help you kick goals at work.

Here we will take you through 5 personal development strategies to better yourself and your business.

5 self development strategies to practice in your business:

1. Effective goal setting

Goal setting is a great way to visualise your dreams and make sure they get achieved in an achievable time frame. ‘Goals hold us accountable for our work ethic and challenge us to improve skills we may or may not already be well-versed in’ (Jones, 2018)

We suggest setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals to help reach your goals in your personal life or business. These goals can be set on a daily, weekly, monthly or even yearly basis, which you will work towards.

To keep yourself accountable, why not tell someone what you are aiming for and when you wish to achieve it by?

We announced the beginning of our #motivationmonday blog series on our social media platforms in January 2021, to make sure we didn’t slack off on delivering some awesome content for our audience! Andddd look at us now, we are on our FINAL blog post for the series. #proud

2. Killer time management

It is said that the most successful people in the world started by getting control of their time management! So, get your calendars ready, because we are going to be using these bad boys religiously from today, onwards.

Time management can start with little things like scheduling in your meetings, lunch breaks and times when you are going to complete specific tasks!

It is important when scheduling in your time, that you allow for curveballs throughout your day, because we all know how they can affect us if we do not allow some time for these moments. It’s all about being proactive, not reactive.

3. Education and learning

Education and learning is one of the best investments you can make for yourself and your business! It’s important that you are always searching for new ways to improve your business and your personal skills, as it will keep you at the forefront of your industry and will also help to keep operations running smoothly. The brain is a muscle, so make sure you keep it active.

We like to think of ourselves as continuous students who are always ready to soak up new information that will help our clients and our team to work better and produce a better experience for all involved.

Alice loves learning by listening to her fave podcasts, and Skye likes to read books and watch some handy YouTube tutorials. From courses, podcasts, books, joining a group or association, we encourage you to find what works for you and go for it!

4. Ask for feedback

Asking for feedback is one of the best ways you can assess how you are going and what you can do to grow personally or in your business!

Approach a friend, family member or work colleague for feedback on recent accomplishments or projects in your work or social life. This will supply positive feedback for a confidence boost, as well as constructive criticism, that you can use to learn and grow from.

5. Health and wellness

Your health and wellness is one of the most crucial parts of your personal development. If you can’t take care of yourself correctly, how can you take care of the business and the employees within it!

We all need to find our own retreat to unwind. Things like mediation, exercise, reading, therapy, resting or even just spending time with your family every night after work, can be very beneficial for a person’s mental and physical wellbeing.

Personal development is so important for business success. If you are not continuously striving to better your personal skills and knowledge base, then how are you going to effectively grow your business or company?
