Organisation is an essential element of any business’s strategy for success.
To be organised is to have a structure in place to help you keep on top of jobs and operate in a space that has order - and if feels awesome too!
In this third installment of the #motivationmonday series, we will be diving into how you can get an organised routine and keep it!
So where do we start?
Here are our top tips to organise a day in your business!
The first step is to assess what tasks you are spending the most time on in your business. Your time is precious, so you need to make sure you are spending the right amount of time on the things that are going to have the biggest reward. We suggest using a program to track what tasks you are spending your day doing in your business.
There are programs available online to help you manage your time better….we use the app
Toggl. There is also Harvest, Everhour and Hourstack.
Once you’ve tracked your time it will be easy to see where you could be better utilising the hours you have in the day to prioritise what is actually important to spend your energy on doing.
A priority list is the upgraded version of a to-do list and can be the best habit to form in your business and personal life! It’s a list that arranges your tasks in order of priority, which allows you to get the biggest and most important jobs done first. Eisenhower’s Urgent/Important Principle is a great example of how you can prioritise your tasks and other day to day jobs! Check out Eisenhower’s principle.
The Pareto 80/20 rule is a well known rule in business, that 80% of your business results come from only 20% of the action and work you put in! This is a great mindset to have when trying to grow your business, as it allows you to stay focused on your strategic plan and spend less time doing things that will not get that 80% result!
Check out this Forbes article we like on the 80/20 rule to refresh yourself on how to shift your perspective when it comes to identifying where your focus should be.
Set some SMART goals for your business! SMART goals allow you to clarify your ideas, focus your efforts, use your time and resources productively and increase your chances of achieving what you want in life. (Mind Tools 2020)
SMART
Goals are goals that are:
Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Relevant
Time-bound

Mind Tools
on how to set up your own SMART goals.
Split your work load up into different areas that can be delegated within your team. Your team is there to help, so use this management method to your advantage.
A Virtual Assistant may also be a way to take a load off your shoulders in business. A VA is a person who provides various services to businesses from a remote location.
A VA can help you with everyday tasks that may be a drain on your time, might not be in your field of expertise and is often a very affordable option too.
Outsourcing certain tasks to experts is sooooo 2021 and is an efficient way to operate your business to ensure you have the right people completing the right tasks (just like the way our clients outsource their marketing needs to our team of experts).
You should already be staying organised by using a calendar, which has all your appointments, jobs and events in the one place, but how can you make better use of this great tool of organisation?
Are you blocking out key work times, your ‘hours of power’? This is the time of the day where you are best positioned (mentally, physically and every way) to get your best quality, important work done!
Set these times in your calendar and block them out so you can’t make meetings with clients or do anything else during this time (you wouldn’t cancel on a client and not show up so make sure you are showing up for yourself!).
Work on the jobs at the top of your priority list at this time and be prepared to be blown away with how much will be completed - it will set your day and life up for success!
This a simple tip but it’s important to keep your workspace clean and tidy! It helps to make you feel organised and ready to work without distraction or procrastination.
This extends beyond your workplace too, your whole environment impacts the way you feel and perform. Check out our fave Marie Kondo (author of ‘The Life Changing Magic of Tidying’) and her ‘Konmari’ method of decluttering and organisation. It will transform your home and life!
