Julie-Anna Inn, Bendigo

This website redesign was a refreshing change from our usual Registered Clubs format. However, being a hospitality venue, the skills required to create a killer website for this beautiful venue were still in our wheelhouse, and… well, we knocked it out of the park! Mik, the Motel Manager was an absolute dream to work with and we couldn’t be happier with the result we achieved together. 

THE BRIEF

Unlike the many site redesigns we’ve curated, the Julie-Anna came equipped with a modern and well-thought-out style guide. A branding bible of sorts that dictated the overall look and feel for the site, making our web designer’s life somewhat easier as colours and fonts did not need to be decided upon. Additionally, the venue already had great imagery and video so that simply left the structural and functional elements to be tackled, which included the speed of the site, accessibility of the information and the general layout of the content.

THE SOLUTION

Speed: to ensure fast page loading times, all images were optimised for web use.

Accessibility: the header was made more distinct with a clear main menu and set to ‘sticky’ - scrolling with the user and always available; and Call-To-Action (CTA) buttons were added to encourage users to take action.

Layout: after translating the style-guide into a suitable website design, each page was laid out in the most effective way, dependent on its content, utilising:

• more space around text, white or other,
• image galleries and other display widgets,
• the brand’s distinctive icon scrolling in the background of specific areas, 
• dynamic pages connected to collection data (a spreadsheet-type setup) for the accommodation types, avoiding the duplication of pages and slowing the site down; and
• a CTA button linking directly to their booking site.
  

THE RESULT

An elegantly designed website that effectively showcases Julie-Anna’s many offerings and is cohesive with their brand.
