You may have heard the term User Generated Content (UGC) floating around the internet and in conversations around social – let us introduce you to the world of UGC...

What is UGC you might ask?


UGC refers to the content that is created by the users of a brand’s products or service. So, for example, someone takes a snap of one of your new cocktails at the bar and post it to Instagram letting their followers know what it is and tagging where they are.


UGC is such a great marketing tool because it is authentic/honest content. We are all much more likely to pay attention to a post about a business that our friends post and appears in our feed.



How do you find UGC?


There are a few places that this content can be found:


Instagram


Location pins - search your business in the IG search bar and select your business location, to review images of people who have tagged their location whilst at your venue.


Profile tags - look in your tagged section of your IG profile to review the pictures you have been tagged in.


Hashtags - search hashtags relating to your brand to see who has used your business specific #

Facebook


Profile tags - notifications will come up on your profile when someone has tagged your venue in their post


Reviews - people may leave a great review and attach an awesome image that can be reshared on your profile.


Venue check-ins - when visitors check in at your venue, you can reshare their captions or images taken whilst in the venue.


It’s important to remember to tag them in your post to credit their image or caption for copyright purposes.
