There is no doubt the past almost 12 COVID months have been extremely tricky to navigate for all businesses. No precedent had been set so a lot of you found your way as you were carried along by the pandemic. We’re still not out of the woods, and with a lot of renewals campaigns hijacked by the pandemic, it's time to refine your renewals strategy. So how do you get the most out of your renewals?
A printed (and delivered) renewal notice is quite simply an opportunity not to be missed! Renewal emails and SMS are great support tools to back up your renewal notice but for your members to receive and open their notice, read it through, browse the glossy publication that you insert, follow your call to action and then hold onto it as a physical reminder to get back into your venue – a worthwhile cause!
So how can your renewal notice work for you?
It can give your members tangible incentives to come into your venue and it gives you the opportunity to update your member database by providing a section on your notices for your members to update any details that may have changed in the last 12 months. If they fill in their details, they go in the draw to win a prize for example, or push members to an online portal to provide their mobile and email so you'll have more ways to contact them.
In this year's renewal letter you can reflect with your members about the past year and show them what 2021 has in store at their Club. You can include upcoming events, push them to our digital channels and alert them to member offers to be redeemed upon renewing, yet another incentive to get that member into your Club.
Maximise the opportunity and include a ‘what’s on’ or a newsletter that can be inserted in with your renewal notice. You’re paying for the postage, why not get the most value for your money?
Give your members a tantalizing overview of all that is happening at their Club. You may introduce a member to an event they didn’t know you offered, and that one thing might be the incentive to bring that member in.
Personalise your communications – personalisation immediately connects you to that member. Relevant, personalised communications are powerful and connect deeply with the receiver. Don't send out generic communications when you have the data to personalise.
Use other channels to support your campaign - a week after your printed renewals have been delivered send all your renewing members a supporting email reinforcing the offers already made to them. And then use an SMS to remind everyone to renew today and redeem their rewards!
A members draw whether it’s cash, holiday or physical goods is a great incentive to get bums on seats. There may be an opportunity to co-promote with other affiliated venues, businesses or suppliers too.
Dress up your venue with visual displays to boast the wonderful incentives you’re offering renewing and existing members. Show renewing and non-members what they’ll miss out on if they don’t renew or join!
